Field Experiments

Our research includes both laboratory studies and field investigations of high latitude atmospheric chemistry. All of our field projects have investigate the interactions of atmospheric gases and particles with snow.

The ALERT 2000 field campaign. We investigated snowpack photochemistry and light transmission in snowpack.
HgBrO field campaign. Investigations of the relationship between sea salts, sea ice, reactive halogens, ozone depletion, and mercury deposition
Studies of the Northern Alaskan Coastal System (SNACS) Continued investigation of the chemistry that deposits activates halogens and deposits mercury in coastal snow.
Field research pictures from various campaigns. These pictures give a flavor of the environment in which we study atmospheric chemistry.
